The Challenge

Inspira Financial provides health, wealth, retirement, and benefits solutions that simplify the financial journey. With over $65 billion in assets under custody and more than 8 million account holders across 48 states, Inspira supports individuals and institutions nationwide. Headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, with offices in Rochester, Denver, and Orlando, Inspira has grown rapidly through nine acquisitions and now employs nearly 1,700 people, more than double its size just three years ago.

“It is critical to have as many private rooms as possible to support an on-the- go-, calendar-to-calendar, style of work. At any given time in the office there are people that are engineers, product designers, executives, and sales development reps working in and out of the Pillar booths at any given time.”

The Solution

Inspira transformed their 6th and 7th floors into bright, modern Workspaces designed for flexibility and collaboration. The redesign introduced open workstations, comfortable residential-style furnishings, and a variety of collaborative zones, from huddle rooms to phone booths.

Despite a smaller footprint, Inspira expanded seating from about 300 to 450 seats by removing private offices and creating more shared spaces designed to meet the evolving needs of their workforce.

Why Privacy Booths Were Critical?

In modern open-plan offices, finding  quiet, private space for focused work or sensitive calls can be a challenge. Pillar Booths provide an easy solution: private, comfortable spaces that employees can use without booking a full conference room. Inspira installed nine Pillar Booths in high-traffic areas near walkways and training rooms, offering immediate access to private spaces for calls, virtual meetings, and concentration.

Alan noted that despite offering many private and semi-private spaces, Pillar Booths still see constant use—a testament to their value even in flexible, well-equipped offices.

“You enter a phone booth, and you're basically ready to go. It works better than needing to dock in a conference room or find somewhere quiet. People use them constantly.”

“We couldn't keep working in an outdated environment. It just wasn’t supporting what we do today.”

Why Pillar Booth?

Inspira selected Pillar Booth for its combination of style and function. High-quality materials, sleek design, and built-in ventilation make the booths feel like upscale furniture, not typical office fixtures. “From the moment you open the door, you notice the quality. It’s clear these aren’t mass-produced. They’re comfortable and inviting.”By placing booths in highly visible areas, Inspira encouraged regular use and made prvacy feel like a natural part of the workspace.

“Visitors always ask about the booths on tours. They’re cool-looking and inviting, so they get used a lot more.”

Results

High Utilization in a Hybrid Environment

Positioned strategically along major walkways and near key areas, the booths are in constant use by employees seeking a quiet space. The demand for the booths, even among a wide range of workspace varieties, is a testament to their value and utility.

Improved Comfort and Flexibility for Employees

The new office design focused on creating a modern, flexible environment with comfortable, residential-style furnishings. The Pillar Booths were a crucial part of this approach, providing employees with a dedicated, comfortable space for concentration and sensitive conversations.

Enhanced Ability to Handle Private Conversations and Virtual Meetings

In an open-plan office, finding a place for a private phone call or virtual meeting can be challenging. The Pillar Booths provided a simple and effective solution. They gave employees a quiet, private space for focused work, sensitive calls, and virtual meetings, ensuring confidentiality and enhancing productivity.

A Fresh, Modern, and Professional Office Aesthetic

Inspira chose Pillar Booths for both their functionality and aesthetic appeal. The quality of materials and sleek design helped elevate the office environment. By placing the booths in highly visible areas, Inspira not only normalized their use but also enhanced the modern, professional feel of the space.

Successfully Supported a Complex Two-Floor Remodel

The booths were part of a comprehensive renovation of Inspira’s 6th and 7th floors. By removing private offices and creating more dynamic shared spaces, Inspira was able to expand its seating capacity from 300 to 450in a smaller footprint. The Pillar Booths played a vital role in this transformation, providing the necessary private spaces to support a modern, open-plan office.

“We have lots of workspace options, but people still choose the booths. That says it all!”
